CMFSC Program Goals

CMFSC Program Goals

At CMF, we believe that developing our young soccer players goes beyond just teaching them soccer skills. Our programming takes a holistic approach, focusing on motivation, respect, resilience, and teamwork within a soccer environment.

  1. Keep players motivated to play: Motivation is the key to success in any sport, and youth soccer is no exception. It's important to keep players engaged and motivated to play by providing a fun, challenging, and supportive environment.
  2. Teach respect: Respect is a crucial life skill that players should learn at a young age. Respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials is essential to building a positive team environment. Players should learn to communicate respectfully, listen actively, and show appreciation for each other's contributions to the team.
  3. Develop resilience: Resilience is a trait that helps players overcome challenges and setbacks, and it is essential for long-term success. We develop resilience by focusing on the process, providing constructive feedback, and creating a supportive and encouraging environment that views mistakes as opportunities for growth.
  4. Teach teamwork: Soccer is a team sport, and players must learn to work together to achieve success. Teamwork involves communication, trust, and cooperation among teammates. Coaches and parents should encourage players to support and help each other on and off the field.

Our methodology prioritizes the above while focusing on soccer skills including tactical understanding, soccer game sense, technique, and fitness. However, it's important to recognize that all these skills need to be practiced and developed outside of CMF as well.

Research shows that children who engage in free play or various sports develop better physical literacy and movement skills. We encourage parents to provide opportunities for their children to play different sports and explore on their own, without the structure of organized sports as much as possible. Successful soccer players spend various hours a week outside of soccer practice refining their speed, juggling, dribbling, passing, and shooting.

By working together, parents and CMF coaches can help develop well-rounded soccer players who possess not only the necessary soccer skills but also the critical values and traits essential for success both on and off the field.
