Spring Small-Sided Games Program

Posted on: May 31, 2021

Girls & Boys Spring Small-Sided Game Series - 2015 born players - 2010 born players (8 Sessions)

All registered players will be assigned to a group, run through a quick warm-up and then play small-sided games. Technical staff coaches will oversee the game environment and flow of the game (including substitutions) adding words of encouragement, advice, and instruction in a safe environment, but mostly kids are given the chance to “just play”. This fast paced and fun-filled hour is a great addition to the Spring Player Academy or a stand-alone program!

All U9 - U12 time slots are reserved for house level players only. Development and Divisional players will participate in games with their teams during Spring. Please contact your coach for more information.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic all activities will correspond with the guidelines & restrictions from viaSport, BC Soccer and Canada Soccer. This program will only run if the PHO orders allow for contact activities and games.

*What is a small-sided game? Small sided-games are games with a small number of players on each side, for example 4 v 4 or 6 v 6. Why use small sided games?

1. Individual technical development
2. Tactical development
3. Easier decision making
4. More opportunity to solve problems that only the game presents
5. More exposure to attacking and defending situations
6. Because they are great FUN!

For more information about the Spring Small-Sided Games Series please contact Alfredo Valente. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and is limited due to field space. Please see below for more information on CMFSC Academy Programming.
