Matheus Pierri

The Blue Devils braved the driving rain this Saturday in Langley, and pulled out a controlling performance to come out 2-0 victors. The boys played an impressive possession game, despite the difficult conditions, and outside conceding two early chances in the first half, finished it up 2-0 thanks to a Nate Raabe finish supplied by a wonderful Liam Dherman through ball and a thumbing Canaan Giurleo rocket. A strong return from Nick Raoufi in goal to lead our defence to our first clean sheet made for a quiet second half, as well as strong midfield showings from Matheus and Daniel Mansori. Despite some challenging playing conditions, we are very proud of all the boys, and have started to see a noticeable upturn in their play that we hope will carry on for the duration of our season. A talented and humble central midfielder, Matheus joined the Blue Devils last season and has become a key player in our transition play. He has excellent technical skills and a superb understanding of and ability to read the game. His eye for a key pass or through ball make him a real threat in the middle of the park, and he has already bagged 2 assists this season. Most importantly, we are impressed by Matheus' commitment to excellence, on and off the field, and his desire to improve the weaker aspects of his game. We hope he can take more of a leadership role in our squad throughout the remainder of our season. Congratulations Matheus!
