Posted by Lindsay on October 8, 2018
This year at Canada's U-17 National Championships, BC will send two BCSPL representative teams to Surrey, BC to participate in the competition - Surrey United and Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC. The two teams played against each other in this year's Provincial Premier Cup final. CMFSC would fall 2-0 to Surrey, but battled hard throughout the game and put in a respectable performance. An additional spot open for this year's nationals, allowed for CMFSC to enter their team as well.

After a long weekend of hard fought games, CMFSC battled their way to the gold medal game against a very challenging Quebec team, that had only given up two goals the entire tournament. The game started with chances at both ends but CMF's Tye Engmann would be the first to add his name to the score sheet after only nine minutes into the game. CMF wouldn't be able to hold the lead for long, as 12 minutes later, Quebec would spring free their forward on a breakaway, and he would find the back of the net to level the game at 1 a-piece. With only minutes remaining in the first half, CMF would recapture their lead after Cameron Poynton found the corner of the net with a header from a corner kick. The game continued with opportunities at both ends, but 2-1 would remain the final.
A replay of the game is available on the Canada Soccer website here.
