Monday, July 20, 2009 - In the last game of the regular season, Coquitlam Metro-Ford Y-League traveled to Burnaby to take on Mountain WFC on Saturday.   

The U13 boys lost their game to Mountain by a score of 0-4.  With the only win for the boys, the U14s managed to pull out a 2-1 result over Mountain.  Edi Ngiwyo scored both goals for Coquitlam.  The U15 boys dropped their match 0-6, and the U16 boys lost 1-4. 

The girls finished the day with more positive results.  The U13 girls overcame Mountain with a 3-1 final score.  Kaitlyn Vanderkooy tallied two goals, and Stephania Custeau also added one for Coquitlam.  The U14 girls tied Mountain 1-1.  Coquitlam’s goal was scored by Rachael Norman.  Unfortunately, the U15 girls lost their game 0-1.  The U16 girls shutout Mountain with a 3-0 win.  Jessica Marano, Kelsey Atherley, and Ashley Stuart each scored a goal for Coquitlam.

Friday, July 17, 2009 - Coquitlam Metro-Ford Y-League finished off its home schedule this past Wednesday when the West Coast Capitals traveled over from the island to take on Coquitlam at Town Centre Park. 

The boys’ teams split their games, two wins and two losses.  The U13 boys overcame the West Coast Capitals with a 2-1 win.  Giordano Baldonero and Felitche Hutchinson each scored for Coquitlam.  The West Coast Capitals goal came from Thomas Norman.  The U14 boys creamed the Capitals 6-0.  Edi Nyigwo scored twice while Jorge Brizuela, Razvan Gheorghe, Adam Jones, and Andre Pietramala also contributed a goal.  Cristiano Ciccone, Jorge Brizuela, Paulo Dait, Guiseppe du Toit, and Andre Pietramal were all given credit for the assists.  The U15 boys couldn’t put one in the net and ended up losing 0-1.  Matthew Templeman scored for West Coast Capitals with the assist from Russell Johal.  The U16 boys dropped their match by a score of 1-3.  Asmatullah Habibi finished for Coquitlam, assisted by Stefano Bortolussi.  Two West Coast Capital goals were scored by Antony Rogers and one by Parker Langlois.

 The U13 girls clenched the only win for the girls.  They defeated the Capitals 4-1.  Arianna Johnston came up big for the U13s with a hat trick and an assist.  Nicola Mawson also added a goal.  Other assists were from Stephania Custeau, Kaitlyn Vanderkooy, Nicole Foreman, and Alessia Mastromonaco.  The U14 girls lost to the West Coast Capitals 1-3.  Pamela Villavicencio scored Coquitlam’s only goal.  Moira Brown tallied two goals for the West Coast Capitals.  Brittany King also scored for the Capitals.  Elise Butler contributed with the assist.  Unfortunately the U15 and U16 girls were both shutout.  The U15 dropped a hard fought game by a 0-1 score.  Elise Wyatt scored for the Capitals with an assist from Elizabeth Yates.  The U16 girls lost 0-2, Samantha Rodgers and Kerys Malli both scored for the West Coast Capitals.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford only has one regular season game left to play.  The Y-League teams travel to Burnaby on Saturday to take on Mountain WFC.

Monday, July 13, 2009 Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club had a successful day at the Town Centre soccer fields this past Saturday. Hosting Surrey WFC, Coquitlam’s eight Y-League teams played through the blazing heat to win five and tie two out of eight games.

The boys teams came out undefeated on Saturday, winning three games and tying one.  The U13 boys defeated Surrey 4-1.  Luke Griffin and Alejandro Varela each earned two goals for Coquitlam.  Luke Griffin also added an assist along with Felitche Hutchinson.  Surrey’s lone goal was scored by Pavandeep Deo and assisted by Jason Samra.  The U14 boys overcame Surrey with a score of 2-1.  Coquitlam goals were scored by Paulo Dait and Chad de Boer with an assist coming from Jonah Reinhart.  Parmveer Jhooti put in Surrey’s one goal.  The U15 boys shutout Surrey 2-0.  Kyle Reed and Kalen Singh put Coquitlam’s goals on the board.  The U16 boys battled for a 3-3 tie in their match against Surrey.  Kyle Dutton, Asmatullah Habibi, and Brennan Bates each contributed with a goal each.  Assists came from Jackson Malloy and Gianmarco Pensato.  Surrey’s three goals were scored by Nicolas Favia, Simrin Rattanpal, and Dipinder Gill with an assist from Sonny Sandhu.

The girls were also successful on Saturday with two wins, a tie, and a loss.  The U13 girls clinched a 2-0 win over Surrey.  Arianna Johnston and Kaitlyn Vanderkooy each tallied a goal and an assist for Coquitlam.  Nicola Mawson also added an assist .  The U14 girls tied their game by a score of 1-1.  Fiona Beales scored for Coquitlam with the assist coming from Olivia Aguiar and Alyssa Crichton.  Cheyenne Phillips put one in the net for Surrey.  The U15 girls defeated Surrey 1-0 in a hard fought match.  Danae Harding came up big scoring Coquitlam’s winning goal.  Jenna Watkins contributed with the assist.  Playing down a player for the majority of the game, the U16 girls couldn’t pull out a win.  Final score was 0-4 for Surrey.  Chelsey Lal scored twice for Surrey.  Additional goals came from Ashley Radomski and Shelby Beck. 

Coquitlam returned to the soccer field on Sunday to take on Coastal WFC at South Surrey Athletic Park.  The results were not as favorable as the previous day, but two teams still recorded a win.

The U13 boys dropped the 0-1 match to Coastal.  The U14 boys crushed Coastal with a 6-0 win with four goals from Edi Nyigwo and a goal each from Razvan Gheroghe and Chad de Boer.  This win for the Under 14 Boys have guaranteed them a spot at the National Championships in Tampa, Florida in November.  The Under 15 boys didn’t play as Coastal WFC doesn’t have an Under 15 boys team and the U16 boys were defeated 0-6. 

The U13 girls were shutout 0-1, and the U14 girls were hit with a 1-3 loss with Kelly Batchelor scoring for CMFSC.  Pulling out one win for the girls, the U15s battled for the 1-0 win against Coastal with their goal coming from Kelsey Acaster on an assist from Gina Fabbro.  The U16 girls lost their game 0-3.  With only 2 games left the Under 13, Under 14, and Under 15 girls still all have a chance to qualify for the National Championship in Florida.

Thursday, July 9, 2009 – Coquitlam Metro-Ford Y-League teams played host to Mountain WFC at Town Centre on Wednesday.  Although each Coquitlam team battled hard on the field, most didn’t end up with the results they would have liked to see.  The Y-league teams get a chance at redemption when they travel to Burnaby on July 18 to play Mountain for the second time.

The boys’ teams only came up with one win on the day.  The U13 boys had a tough game losing to Mountain WFC 1-6.  Coquitlam’s lone goal was scored by Felitche Hutchinson and assisted by Michael Mobilio.  Mountain’s goals came from Will Barrie, Alexander Lazazzera, and two from both Justin Dhaliwal and Zachary Or.  Matthew Chow, Bjorn Malahoff, Nico Tonino-MacDonald, and Zach Karmel all assisted Mountain’s goals.  The U14 boys had the best result of the day, crushing Mountain 4-1.  Razvan Gheorghe put two in the net for Coquitlam.  Guiseppe duToit and Adam Jones also added to the final score.  Assists came from Cristiano Ciccone, Adam Jones, and Andre Pietramala.  Mountain’s goal was scored by Mark Baldisimo and assisted by Tyler Leonard.  The U15 boys dropped their match 0-2.  Troy Holmes and Jordan MacDonell accounted for Mountain’s goals.  Mountain’s assist came from Balkaranjit Bhandal.  The U16 Boys had an unfortunate 0-4 loss.  Evan Sinclaire scored three goals and had an assist for Mountain.  Jordan Marini also finished one for Mountain.

The girls also strung together only one win against Mountain WFC.  The U13 girls defeated Mountain 2-1.  Kaitlyn Vanderkooy tallied both goals on assists from Mikaela Guerreiro and Baia Hearns.  Alexis Llewellyn scored Mountain’s only goal with the assist coming from Sophia Goto.  The U14, U15, and U16 girls all lost by the score of 0-1.  For the U14 girls, Madisen Longo scored for Mountain.  Mountain’s goal against the U15’s came from Jessie De Boer, assisted by Brianna Morrison.  Emily Kwitkoski scored the winning goal off a penalty kick against the U16 girls.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford’s Y-League teams return to Town Centre on Saturday, July 11, for games against Surrey WFC.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009 – After a three-week break, the Coquitlam Metro-Ford’s Y-League teams were back in action over the weekend. The teams traveled to Bateman Park on Saturday to take on the Abbotsford Mariners for the second time of the season.

The U13 boys were down 0-1 in the second half, but they didn’t let down. They tied the game when Alejandro Varela scored from a corner kick. The U14 boys also ended with a score of 1-1. Jorge Brizuela scored the tying goal with Adam Jones getting credit for the assist. The U15 boys dropped their match to Abbotsford by a score of 0-2. Unfortunately, the U16 boys also ended in a loss. The score was 1-3 with the lone goal coming from Kyle Dutton, assisted by Anthony Abbrucci.

The Y-League girls had a better day, finishing off with two wins and a loss. The U13 girls defeated the Abbotsford Mariners 3-1. Ariana Johnston came up big with two goals, and Kimberly Hoskins also added a goal to the win. Abbotsford does not have a U14 girls’ team, so Coquitlam’s U14 girls had the day off. The U15 girls shutout the Mariners. Meagan Stuart and Gianna Gallo each tallied a goal for the 2-0 win. The U16 girls lost their game 0-2.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford Y-League continues play on Wednesday, July 8, at Town Centre Park when they host Mountain WFC.


Tuesday, June 2, 2009 – Coquitlam Metro-Ford’s Y-League program hosted a day of games against Coastal WFC at Town Centre on Sunday.  It was another hot, sunny day that ended in mix results for the Coquitlam Y-League teams.

In the first game of the day, the U13 Boys dropped their match by a score of 0-1.  Takuma Cottle scored Coastal WFC’s winning goal.  Still undefeated, the U14 Boys pounded Coastal WFC 5-1.  Razvan Adrian came up big for Coquitlam scoring four goals.  Edi Nyigwo also put one in the net.  Coastal WFC’s one goal was scored by JB McEown.  The U16 Boys unfortunately lost 0-2. Tag Charles Sangara finished twice for Coastal WFC.

The U13 Girls game was 0-0 at halftime, but the girls didn’t fight on.  Coastal WFC ended up with a 3-0 win.  Sophie Beaudry scored twice for Coastal.  Sarah Mohn also added one for the Coastal win.  The U14 and U15 Girls’ games ended in scoreless ties.  The U16 Girls battled for a 1-1 tie.  Brittney Rank scored for Coquitlam, and Sonia Cheng scored for Coastal WFC to tie the game.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford has a big break ahead of them.  The teams don’t resume play until June 20 when they take on Abbotsford at Bateman Park.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009 - The Super Y-League traveled to Vernon this past weekend for Sunday’s games against Thompson – Okanagan WFC.  Sunday’s contests were especially significant, as it was the second and final time of the Y-League season that Coquitlam Metro-Ford would face Thompson – Okanagan WFC.  It was a hot day at the soccer field, but the teams fought hard with three teams winning by only one goal. 

The U13 Boys tied their match 2-2.  The U14 Boys remain undefeated as they battled to come out with a 1-0 win against Thompson – Okanagan.  Both the U15 and U16 Boys lost by three goals, the U15s lost 1-4 and the U16s got shutout 0-3.  The girls’ teams finished the day stronger taking home three wins.  Unfortunately the U13 Girls were defeated 0-2 in their game.  The U14 Girls crushed Thompson – Okanagan 3-0.  The U15 Girls improved their record with a 1-0 win.  Last but not least, the U16 Girls defeated Thompson – Okanagan by a score of 3-2.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford Y-League returns to the field on Sunday, May 31, when they host Coastal WFC.  The games are at Town Centre with game start times at 9:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009 – Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club continued their second week of Super Y-League action this past Saturday and Sunday.  The club came off a strong opening weekend, but this weekend’s results proved that the Y-League will be extremely competitive and each team will have to fight for their wins.

Saturday the teams traveled to Victoria to play the West Coast Capitals.  Unfortunately, the U13 boys couldn’t pull out a win.  They dropped the match 0-1.  The U14 boys defeated the West Coast Capitals 3-1.  The U15 boys tied 0-0, while the U16 boys lost their game 1-2.  The girls finished the day slightly better with two wins.  The U13 girls beat the Capitals 3-1, and the U14 girls came away with a 2-1 win.  The U15 girls couldn’t get the same result and lost the match 1-2.  The U16 girls failed to capitalize during their game and ended up tying the match 0-0.  

The teams stayed close to home for Sunday’s games against Surrey WFC at Newton Athletic Park.  The U13 boys lost their second game of the weekend by a score of 1-2. 
With the only win from the boys on Sunday, the U14s defeated Surrey WFC 4-2.  The U15 boys tied their game 1-1, and the U16 boys ended in a scoreless draw.  Unfortunately the girls also pulled out only one win for the day.  The U13 girls ended in a 1-1 tie.  Suffering their first loss of the season, the U14 girls lost 0-2 on Sunday.  The U15 girls shutout Surrey WFC in a 1-0 win, and the U16 girls dropped their game 1-3.

The eight Y-League teams travel to Vernon on Saturday for games against Thompson – Okanagan WFC on Sunday, May 24th. 

Press Release: Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club kicks off Super Y-League Play

Wednesday, May 13, 2009 - Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club opened their inaugural season in the Super Y-League at Town Centre this past weekend.  The club hosted seven games for the Abbotsford Mariners on Saturday and eight games for Thompson-Okanagan WFC on Sunday.  The club’s eight Y-League teams, who range from U13-U16 boys and girls, won nine out of the fifteen matches.

The U13 Boys tied Abbotsford 1-1 with Rashaun Rivers scoring the lone goal.  Sunday they recorded a 2-1 win over Thompson – Okanagan WFC.  Kyle Jones and Michael Mobilio each put one in goal to secure the win.

Starting off the season strong, the U14 Boys earned two wins this weekend.  Jorge Brizuela put one in against Abbotsford for the 1-0 win.  The boys downed Thompson – Okanagan WFC 4-1 with two goals scored by Razvan Gheorghe and one each by Paulo Dait and Andre Pietramala.

The U15 Boys dropped Saturday’s game against Abbotsford with a 0-1 loss.  The team battled against Thompson – Okanagan WFC, but the final result was a 2-2 tie.  Roberto McKave knocked in both goals for the boys.

The U16 Boys split this weekend’s games.  Patrick Stankiewicz goal against Abbotsford proved enough to capture the 1-0 win.  Unfortunately, the boys couldn’t string enough goals together to overcome Thompson – Okanagan WFC on Sunday. Asmatullah Habibi scored team’s only goal in the 1-2 loss.

After Saturday and Sunday’s matches, the Y-League girls come away undefeated.  The U13 Girls kicked off the weekend with a 1-1 tie against Abbotsford, goal scored by Stephania Custeau.  The girls shutout Thompson – Okanagan WFC with a 2-0 win on Sunday. Baia Hears and Arianna Johnston each buried one for the win.

The U14 Girls only saw the field on Sunday this weekend.  The Girls’ four goals were just enough to beat Thompson – Okanagan WFC 4-3.  Olivia Aguiar scored two goals while Andrea Di Lorenzo and Rachael Norman each put one in the net.

Danae Harding came up big for the U15 Girls, scoring three goals for the 3-2 win against Abbotsford.  Sunday’s game landed the team with a 2-0 record as they defeated Thompson – Okanagan WFC 2-0.  Danae Harding and Meagan Stuart scored one goal each for the win. 

The U16 Girls came away with a 1-1 tie against Abbotsford on Saturday.  After the first half, the girls could not hold on to their 1-0 lead to take the win.  The girls came out to play on Sunday beating Thompson – Okanagan WFC 3-1.  Sarah Hannigan scored all four goals for the U16 Girls this weekend.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford continues Y-League action this Saturday, May 16, in Victoria against the West Coast Capitals.  The U13 Boys kick off the weekend at 11:00 a.m.  The U15 Boys and U13 Girls play at 1:00 p.m.  The U14 Boys and Girls follow at 3:00 p.m. The U16 Boys and U15 Girls play at 2:00 p.m.  The U16 Girls finish off the day at 4:00 p.m.  The teams also play Surrey WFC on Sunday at the Newton Athletic Park in Surrey.
