Press Release: Coquitlam Metro-Ford Names PCSL Coaches
Ayre, Jack return for second season, Kindel takes over PCSL Premier Women
Monday February 8 2010 (Coquitlam, BC) - The Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Clubhas named their head coaches for the 2010 Pacific Coast Soccer League season, with Garry Ayre, Kristine Jack and Dennis Kindel being named to helm the Mens Reserve, Womens Reserve and Womens Premier teams, respectively.
Garry Ayre, a long time Metro-Ford coach, and former NASL professional with the New York Cosmos, returns for his second season with the Mens Reserve squad. Ayre led the expansion side last year to a second place league finish and an appearance in the Challenge Cup final. The club hopes to build on last year's success. Given the club's steady stream of talent coming through the youth ranks, the club is confident that this year's edition will be a contender for league and cup silverware.
The women's reserve team, which compiled more wins (31) than any other reserve club the past four years, finished second in 2009, and suffered a heartbreaking semi-final loss in the Challenge Cup semi-final. Kristine Jack will return to run the squad in 2010, and will look to field one of the top groups of young talent from CMFSC's U17 and U18 youth squads. Kristine is a current member of the Coquitlam Metro-Ford top women's team in the MWSL Premier League. She has also been an assistant coach with the powerful Langara College women's program for the past six years.
The club is very pleased to announce that Dennis Kindel will take the reins of the PCSL Womens Premier squad this year. Kindel, who served as the squad's assistant coach last year, will transition into the PCSL from his current role at the club's top women's coach with the MWSL Premier League squad. Kindel is currently enjoying great success with in his first year with the women, as the team sits atop the MWSL standings and has advanced to the quarter-finals of the League Cup. 2009 turned out to be a bit of a rebuilding year for the team, losing the services of several veteran players before the season began. The club hopes to improve on last year's fourth place finish, and is counting on their core group of young players to build on their trial-by-fire experience last season, when they were thrust into key leadership and production roles.
Scott Fletcher, the club's women's coordinator, feels that having Dennis Kindel involved in the program year-round will go along way towards establishing the club's long term development plan for their women's premier team. "Our first team, our MWSL team, is our priority," stated Fletcher, "And the PCSL teams are designed to support that team in the form of developing premier caliber players on a long-term basis. We intend to use our PCSL Premier team for our current Premier players who wish to play year-round, and also for our club collegiate and university players. Meanwhile, our Reserve team is designed to give our top youth players, who are the future of our premier program, the opportunity to play senior soccer and introduce them to the premier-level."
The Pacific Coast Soccer League season begins in May. CMFSC's teams will begin the player evaluation process and roster selections in March. Further information will be made available through the club's website: www.cmfsc.ca.
